Popular tech writers Ben Thompson and John Gruber launch Dithering, a members-only podcast
Popular technology commentators, Ben Thompson and John Gruber are collaborating to launch a members-only podcast – Dithering.
Dithering, a paid-for podcast, will offer three episodes a week, 15 minutes per episode with new episodes every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The two have been recording episodes since mid-March and the podcast is launching with 20 episodes in the feed.
Dithering
A new podcast from Ben Thompson and John Gruber. Three episodes per week, 15 minutes per episode. Not a minute less, not a minute more.
Ben Thomson publishes Stratechery where he provides an analysis of the strategy and business side of technology and media to subscribers. Thomson has worked at Apple, Microsoft, and Automattic before and went full-time with Stratechery since 2014.
John Guber, the man behind Daring Fireball, is one of the leading technology commentators, especially on all things Apple, and also hosts a long-running podcast – The Talk Show.
While Dithering is subscription-only, Gruber confirms that it is entirely built on plain-old wide-open RSS, and is designed to work with any and all podcast players. There is no Dithering app and never will be. Once you sign up on the website, you’ll get a link that can be used to subscribe in your preferred podcast app.
Subscription to Dithering normally costs $5/month or $50/year, but you can bundle it with your Stratechery subscription for a lower price.
While both the hosts are respected voices in the technology industry, a subscription-led single podcast is a novelty and it will be interesting to see how Dithering fairs.
