Welcome to The Podcast Hub
Check, check… 1, 2, 3. And we’re live. Welcome to The Podcast Hub!
The Podcast Hub is, well, all about podcasts and the podcasting ecosystem. It features news, reviews, how-tos, interviews, et al for people who like to listen to podcasts, podcast hosts and producers, and really anyone who is interested in the medium.
Podcasts are growing – just look around the web and reams of newsprint documenting this for the last couple of years. And we want to document, analyze, and make sense of the ecosystem.
The rise – or rather resurgence – of voice is being propelled by several factors: the growing usage of smart speakers, the emergence of connected car, the power of music streaming platforms and the rapid rise of podcasts as a compelling genre.
Oh, and I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Abhishek Baxi, a freelance technology journalist with over a decade of experience – both as an industry watcher as well as a participant. I quit Microsoft in 2011 to become an independent digital consultant, and to write more, travel randomly, watch a lot of movies, and wake up late on weekdays. I’m the founder-editor of The Podcast Hub. A couple of months ago, I wrote the following line in a long-form story about podcasting in India, and in a way, it birthed The Podcast Hub.
In the 2000s, it used to be “I have a blog”. Now, it’s “I host a podcast.”
We’re just getting started, and there’s a long way to go. There might be some loose ends here and there as well, and we’re working on it. This is perhaps a beta version of what lies ahead. Of course, there will be more and more articles as we go along, but we also plan deeper engagement with online events, expert interactions, and trainings to essentially build a community around the eclectic world of podcasting. I’d really appreciate your feedback and suggestions to grow this publication, and essentially the ecosystem. Also, do spread the word.
