Turn your video chats into podcast-ready audio with Anchor

Anchor, the popular podcast creation and distribution service, has added a new feature allowing users to turn their video conferences into podcast-ready audio.

The tool makes it possible to convert your video files into editable audio allowing you to transform your virtual hangouts on Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, etc. and share it as a podcast.

Uploading a video offers more options and flexibility in your recording process, and is a great alternative to in-person podcasting sessions, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether you’re interviewing a guest or live streaming with your co-host – now you can import, edit, and share your conversation – all from the same platform.

How to convert a video into audio for your podcast

To transform your video chats into a podcast, record using your preferred video chat or streaming tool, and download the file if needed. Then, just upload the video file to Anchor on the web, and it will automatically convert to audio. Anchor supports .mp4 and .mov files and accommodates several popular video chatting apps.

Depending on your platform of choice, it is generally quite easy to record your conversations. Here are the instructions on recording and or exporting video chats for Google Meet, Zoom, Instagram Live, Skype, FaceTime, and Twitch. Of course, make sure you have permission from all participants before you hit that record button. You cannot upload YouTube links directly to Anchor, but if you have the raw video file, you can upload it and convert it to audio.

Your converted audio file will show up immediately as a segment in your episode builder and in your library, so you can split it, trim it, and start adding edits right away. You can publish your recording as is, or make it your own by adding background music, interludes, sound effects, and voice messages.
