Spotify adds a new Polls feature allowing podcasters to engage with their audience

Spotify is testing a new Polls feature that allows podcasters to engage with their audience. Podcast hosts can ask their audience questions within the app and both the host and listeners will be able to see the responses in real time.

Polls will allow listeners to share feedback and opinions – who could be the next guest on the show or weighing in on a debate that took place during an episode – as requested by the show’s hosts. Podcasters will be able to use this information to better connect with their listeners as well as improve the podcast.

You can find the poll at the bottom of the episode page for any podcasts where the feature is activated, or on the episode’s Now Playing page. Responding to a poll is optional, and the answers are completely anonymous.

While in preview, the feature is available on select podcasts – Spotify Originals and Exclusives in the first wave – for 90% of users across all markets on iOS and Android devices. These include The Rewatchables, Incredible Feats with Dan Cummins, Crime Countdown, and more.

Polls on podcasts will open up a new way for creators and listeners to interact, discovering what topics listeners want more of or learning about the type of guests they prefer.
